Katie Hauerwas b. September 11, 1878 d. April 26, 1900
Katie, second wife of Joel Baum, was killed in North Dakota when the horses ran away with the buggy and threw her to her death. She may have been pregnant at the time of her death. Tragically, she was only 21 years old. She and Joel had a son, Harvey Leroy Baum. Harvey was 2 years old at the time of her death. Katie's tombstone inscription reads: Which never can be filled. A loving wife for me is gone A voice I loved is stilled.
