Notes for Nancy Pollard Tate:

It appears that Nancy is listed in the 1900 Kansas Census in Caldwell, Sumner County, as Nancy "Hoffman". She is living as a boarder with apparently a daughter, Alberta? born in 1875, who is a servant.

In the 1910 Census, Nancy is living with her son, Ed, in Grant County, Oklahoma. It states that she is widowed and has given birth to 11 children, 11 of whom are still living. It also states that her father was born in England, which is incorrect.

Nancy died of pneumonia during a blizzard in 1919 at her son Ed's farm. The roads were not driveable, so they walked to the cemetery and her grave remains unmarked. Jeremiah and Nancy are buried at Spring Creek Cemetery, straight north of Deer Creek, Oklahoma. The grave sites were purchased by Ed Huffman.

James was called "The Scotsman Emigrant" and settled near Page's Ware House, Hanover County, Virginia. Hanover County was formed from New Kent in 1720. He was a hatter by trade as well as a tailor. He made clothes for Anne Burriss in 1708 and for Anthony Winston in 1711. On March 14, 1708 he was appointed overseer of processioning for his district until 1727 when he died intestate.

James' name appears in the records of St. Peter's church. For the years 1706 through 1719 James was paid in tobacco for his services to the parish. Most of his children's births are recorded in the church records. His sons appear in the processioning records. James married Anne and they had seven children with two daughters that died young.
