Lucy Ann Huffman

Joshua F. May

Lucy Ann Huffman was born in 1854 in Macon County, Missouri, and died in 1889 in Caldwell, Sumner County, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Jeremiah Huffman and Nancy Pollard Tate.  She married Joshua F. May on July 29, 1873 in Macon County.  He was born in 1851 in Indiana and died of Typhoid fever in 1890.  He was the son of Philetus May and Rachel Ford.

Joshua was born in Indiana then moved to Missouri .  Joshua and Lucy Ann left Macon Co. for Texas prior to the birth of their first child Raymus in 1874, then on to Caldwell where he remained for the rest of his life.  He arrived in the Caldwell area around 1880.  He died of typhoid fever which he contracted during a hunting trip into the Oklahoma territory.  His orphaned children were divided up and sent to live with various relatives until they were old enough to go out on their own.
