Carl Gustaf Nelson (Nilsson) was born 1824 in Tåby, Tåby Parish, Östergötland, Sweden, and died in 1899 in Pittsfield, Pennsylvania.  He married Anna Sophia Narbom in 1860 in Tåby Parish, Östergötland , Sweden .  She was born 26 Mar 1836 in Rönö, Tåby Parish, Östergötland, Sweden, and died after February 10, 1894, in Pittsfield, Pennsylvania.

Carl Gustaf and Anna Sophia were married in 1860 and emigrated in 1870, sailing from Göteborg on October 28th on the ship Orlando . They were accompanied by their twin daughters Hedda Lovisa (Hattie Louise) and Whilhemina, age 9. Their destination was Jamestown , New York. The passenger list shows their name as Nelson (vs. Nilsson).

In 1880, Gust and Sophia were residing in Pittsfield , Warren County, Pennsylvania ( Pittsfield , Warren , Pennsylvania  (Family History Library Film   1255200 NA Film Number   T9-1200  Page Number   182A).  Hattie and Minnie are residing with them.

Per Aunt Marie, daughter of Charles and Hattie Rein, “Grandpa Nelson lived on a farm. He built wells, peeled apples and rocked babies."
