Anton Walfrid Holmlund was born
December 29, 1873 in Finland and died April 6, 1932 in Buffalo, Erie
County, New York. He was the son of Gustaf Holmlund and Maria Sofia
Esaiasdotter. He married Matilda G. about 1899. She was
born about 1874 in Sweden and died January 18, 1972. Both Anton
and Matilda are buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York. Upon their arrival in the United States, Anton and his brother, Johan Wilhelm Holmlund, went to Buffalo, New York, where their father's brother Wilhelm had immigrated to in 1847. The brothers opened a paper and wallpaper store in Buffalo (on Maslin Avenue or Masten Avenue or East Utica). In the 1900 census, Anton and
Matilda are living on Per 1920 census, Anton
immigrated in 1895 and was naturalized in 1900 (ED 226, page 15, ward
23). Anton and Matilda had three children: Harry, Helen and Thelma.
